The
Automatic Detection Window And Proxy Server Rules

When
you select the Use Proxy Server option, you can select different
proxy server rules for your program. The first rule is Single
proxy server. You can also select different rotate options
which we will explain in more detail in each section.
Single
When you use this option you are setting a rule for your program,
to use only one proxy server for the each time that it connects
to the Internet. You can change the server anytime on the
fly by adding the option to manually rotate, or by going to
the rules section and editing the rule for the program.
After you select Single, you will need to click on the "Click
here to select a Proxy Server" button and select a proxy
as shown below.
Each proxy list (Private, Open & Manual) has a place for
SOCKS and HTTP proxies. Simply click on the +
symbol to expand that part of the list or the -
symbol to collapse it.
HTTP OR SOCKS?
HTTP proxies should be used for programs such as browsers
and web programs such as Internet Explorer, Netscape and FireFox.
SOCKS proxies should be used for TCP programs such as messengers,
telnet, ftp, irc, etc.. This is because http proxies are optimized
with a cache for browsing. They also timeout faster then socks
connections. If you use http proxies for a messenger type
program, it may timeout and close more often then you would
wish it to.

The
Proxy Servers shown in the window above printed with permission
from theproxyconnection.com
You
can select a single proxy server from any of your lists which
includes Private Proxies (ours), open Proxies (open proxy
lists found on the Internet), or Manual Proxies which are
other high speed
private proxy providers or services.
Stealth Options
Keep
in mind that when you choose HTTP proxies for your Internet
surfing utilities such as Internet Explorer, Netscape, FireFox
and other browsers that you can configure EXTRA STEALTH into
the connection. When selecting HTTP Proxies you will see the
additional options shown below.
STEALTH OPTIONS
Custom User Agent
By using the pull down option you can select different known
user agents for browsers and operating systems such as Linux,
MAC, etc.. This will keep hackers and auto Trojans or worms
from knowing what OS and browser version that you are using.
You can also simply type in a phrase something like "What
you don't know, can't hurt you" or simply "Get Lost"
Please also keep in mind that some web pages use this information
for display or use special programming functions. When using
this option *some* web pages may not function properly.
Custom Referer Tag
A referer is used when you click on a link on one web page
or site to go to another. Each time that you change pages,
the web site will know where you came from. The webmaster
can also get other information that was passed in the link.
Sometimes this information can contain personal information.
Examples of this would be if you clicked on a link in your
email. The entire login path and sometimes your user name
can be shown. Yahoo Chat; If you click on a link in the chat
room, your Yahoo ID, room that you were in and other personal
information can easily be obtained (even your email address).
These are only to name a few, there are many other examples.
By
using the pull down option you can select from a list of different
examples. You can also simply type in a phrase something like
"You don't really need to know where I am coming from
do you?" or simply "Get A Life"
A good way to test these functions would be to go to the unique
internet services web page by clicking here.
It will show the referer because this page is taking you there.
As long as you are using Proxy Firewall for this browser session
it will display what you have configured in the custom area
as shown in the color red and blue below:
