Selecting The Rule

Allow (no proxy)

If you select Allow (no proxy) the program will be allowed to connect to the Internet using your default Internet connection. These are connections that you want to allow without hiding your identity, or connections that need to use your real ip address. An example of this would be programs that use the sendmail protocol (SMTP). Such programs may not be able to use a proxy server. This is because your ISP may have a firewall configured, that keeps spammers from using their mail server to send spam. In order to send mail, the program needs to be coming from the ISP's ip addresses. Other connections that some programs make may also be firewalled. In such cases you can always request that your ISP add one of your proxy ip's (or a block of the proxy ip addresses) to their firewall, so that you can use them with these programs. If you are using a webmail program such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail or others you will not have these problems.

Block All Connections
If you select the Block All Connections option, the program will not be able to connect to the Internet. If you are not sure about a program, you can always choose the block option and then see if you experience any problems. Sometimes it is better safe then sorry. If you find that you should have allowed the program, you can always go to the rules window and change the settings for the program that you configured to block.

Use Proxy Server
This option will allow you to tunnel the program connection through a proxy server.
When you choose this option, your real ip address and location will not be seen.
